Corporal Punishment, What says you?

Corporal Punishment seems to be a hot topic as of late.  More and more celebs seem to be running to pick up the cause and speaking against it.  I never really gave it much thought, but today I decided to research it a little bit and truly educate myself on what corporal punishment really is.

Corporal Punishment Definition::

Corporal punishment is a kind of physical punishment that involves the deliberate infliction of pain as retribution for an offence, or for the purpose of disciplining or reforming a wrongdoer, or to deter attitudes or behaviour deemed unacceptable. The term usually refers to methodically striking the offender with an implement, whether in judicial, domestic, or educational settings.
Corporal punishment may be divided into three main types:

• parental or domestic corporal punishment: within the family—typically, children punished by parents or guardians;
• school corporal punishment: within schools, when students are punished by teachers or school administrators;
• judicial corporal punishment: as part of a criminal sentence ordered by a court of law. Closely related is prison corporal punishment, ordered either directly by the prison authorities or by a visiting court.

I got to thinking, am I really against "Corporal Punishment?"  ummm NO!  Don't get me wrong, I would never advocate or promote the harming or abuse of any human being.  But, to tell a parent that it is unlawful for them to spank their kids for misbehaving is ABSURD!

Again, let me make this very clear, I DO NOT CONDONE ANY TYPE OF ABUSE, but don't confuse hitting a kid with a bat to spanking him on the ass either.  If and when a parent chooses to enroll their child in a school where corporal punishment is allowed then that is up to the parents to make that decision.  Again, physical discipline does not have to be taken to extreme measures.  I also feel that if you are the type of parent that does not want to spank your kids, THEN MORE POWER TO YOU!  That is your right as a parent to make that decision.  My problem really comes from someone describing me spanking my child as ABUSE!  Nope.com don't agree with that at all.
