Is social networking becoming a bit overbearing for everyone? I ask because over the course of the last few months I feel like I'm hearing more and more horror stories regarding social media.
Take for example the experience of C. J. Johnson, top H.S. football recruit in the country, who had to shut down his Facebook account because of all the continuous hounding and gossip.
I for one am amazed how much people know about my everyday life without me telling them. For example, I was over at a buddies house this weekend in Lakewood, Ca. I got a texts from Husky asking me if I was still in Lakewood. My reply was, "how in the heck did you know I was in Lakewood?" He let me know that he saw the posting on my wife's Facebook, so he knew. Not that I mind Husky knowing where I was at the time because he is one of my closest friends.
The real problem is, who else knew I was in Lakewood? Also, does anyone and everyone need to know where I am?
It's starting to bother me just a tad. Too much information is being disclosed, and I truly don't have control over what it is or who is receiving this information.
What do you guys think? Is all this social media becoming more of a burden than a good K*I*T (keep in touch) tool?
Maybe I just need to not "friend" random people, but then again, I don't have control over who my friends are "friend-ing." Not sure where this is going to take us.
Would love to hear from you people.

Don't matter who your friends are "friending" because you can keep people who aren't YOUR friends from seeing your page. So that's a moot point.
ReplyDeleteIt's like with the "Check In" function. People will know you're not home, thus, they could break into your home. The thing is, if you make it so ONLY friends can see your page, you're pretty good. Again, unless your friends tell some random strangers who happen to know where you live and then they decide to pull a jack move.
Otherwise, if you want to keep people from knowing where you're at, what you're doing, etc. well then my friend - you need to start en tu casa. HA! HA! HA!
And on that note, go unlock the door, your wife is carrying things and needs your help. She posted that minutes ago, so she should be at the door any minute now.
HA! HA! HA! jk
